You need to use EC pills right away, if you had sex w/out protection. For ex:
EC pills SHOULD NOT be used as a regular BC mehod. EC pillls should be used only in an emergency. |
EC pills lower the chance you will get pregnant after unprotected sex. EC pills work best if you take them ASAP (w/in 72 hours) BUT you must take them no later than 5 days after sex. They do not work for sex that happens after you take them |

EC pills help:
EC pills will not stop a pregnancy that has already started. It is not an abortion pill. |
Many health care providers, pharmacies, and family planning clinics have EC pills (they are available at Elsie Allen Health Center and SCHC's Teen Clinic). You may be able to get EC pills at no cost when you are enrolled in Family PACT. If you're 17 years old and over, you can get EC pills over-the-counter. |

Your provider or pharmacist will tell you how many and what type of pills to take. Your doc may give you Plan B, which are available in either 2 pills or 1 tablet. Some provider may tell you to take both doses at the same time; Others may tell you to take each dose 12 hrs apart. The main thing to remember is:
Some girls may get an upset stomach. Your provider may order a medicine to keep you from feeling sick to your stomach. Dramamine or some other OTC meds may also help. Call your provider if you vomit w/in an hour after you took the 1st dose. You may need to take the next dose right away. Don't worry if you vomit the 2nd dose. By the time you vomit, enough of the dose you need is already in your body. Do not take extra pill. |
