The BC Patch is a small patch that you put on your skin once a week to keep from getting pregnant. The patch has 2 kinds of hormones are taken in through the skin. They keep the woman's eggs from leaving her ovaries.

You put a new patch on her skin once a week. Each patch lasts for 7 days. The woman takes the old patch off and puts a new patch on a different part of her body. She does this for 3 weeks in a row |
Pretty well -- when used properly and consistenly, the Patch is approx. 99% effective. However, the patch may not work as well for women and girls who weigh more than 200 pounds. |

Start using your patch the day your healthcare provider suggests. For ex: put it on the Sunday after you start your period. During the first week you start using the patch, use another method, like condoms, every time you have sex. This will help protect you while your body gets used to the hormones. The patch works best if the level of hormones stays the same in your body. Change your patch the same day each week. WEEK 1 WEEK 2 and WEEK 3 WEEK 4

Talk to your provier about any health prob's you may have. Like, if:
W/ the patch you may get a higher dose of hormones than you would w/ the pill. So if you experience any sudden headaches, eye prob (i.e blurry vision), or sharp sudden pain in the leg, chest, or abdomen -- tell your doc right away!

The BC shot has hormones in it to keep you from getting prenant for 12 wks. The shot has a hormone that keeps the woman's eggs from leaving her ovaries. It also thickens the mucus at the opening of the uterus, so the male's sperm cannot get inside.

You must go to a health care provider to get a shot. this shot keeps the hormones in your body at the level needed to keep you from getting pregnant. If the 1st shot is given by the fifth day of your period, it starts to work right away. It keeps working for 12 wks. The shot wears off after that time. |
